This month Global Office Supplies is celebrating its tenth birthday!
Since being established in 2009 by founder Michael Girton, we’ve helped countless businesses recycle, reuse and restock office supplies all over the country.
Global Office Supplies has continued to grow during the last decade and has built long-standing relationships with customers and suppliers throughout the UK… and we don’t intend to stop there.
We are committed to working in partnership with our customers to build a sustainable future by offering an extensive range of green office supplies and recycling initiatives.
We all know how bad single-use plastic is for our planet. More than 8 million tonnes of plastic is dumped into our oceans each year. It is estimated that by 2050, the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish if this is to continue.
A significant amount of this plastic drifts into large systems of circulating ocean currents and breaks down into microplastics which are easily mistaken for food by sea life.
Over 1 million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute and it’s not slowing down. Plastic bottle consumption is expected to increase by another 20% by 2021 creating an environmental crisis that some consider as serious as climate change.
It’s for this reason that we are waging a war on plastic!
We are now proud suppliers of Pilot’s Begreen B2P Rollerball Pen. These pens are made from recycled water bottles – one water bottle makes 2 pens. Not only do these pens help reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the oceans, but they are a dream to write with, retractable and refillable. They are designed to look like a water bottle which really makes a statement about your commitment to the environment.
Global Office Supplies is now a regular supporter of The Ocean Cleanup – the largest ocean cleanup in history. The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organisation that is developing advanced technologies to rid the ocean of plastic and, with support from donors like Global Office Supplies, aim to clean up half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in just five years’ time.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers for their support over the last ten years – we wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We look forward to another ten years and hope to help and encourage more and more businesses to protect and preserve our beautiful planet.
